Close to 50% of people who die in home fires were trying to escape when they died. A developed exit plan, and practice of a home fire drill, might have saved their lives. The 911 Center would like to announce that the residents of the City of Rochester and Monroe County can now be notified by cell phone call or text message of major incidents in their area. By registering your cell phone when Police or Fire Officals need to notify residents in an emergency 911 will already call your home phone. With this service you will also get either a call to your cell phone or a text message with the information about the incident. If you have any questions please contact the 911 Center (585) 528-2200, Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. or sign up here.
